Dorian - The Magic Continues

Part Two

"Defame and Slander Any Who Speak Against Me"

By Gerald Greysmith

"Never underestimate desperate people. You never know how far they will go to get what they want."

It seems the old adage that when you strip away the lies from someone's life they are revealed as they truly are. And this can never be any more clear than with our current topic of discussion, David Richardson. Going by the stage name of Dorian the Magician he has become a one-man operation of defamation against anyone who would dare to argue against him. Almost daily from his public Facebook group, "Ban BSMA," one can see where he launches video after video, sometimes the same ones repeatedly in an attempt to defend his position against any who he perceives as a threat to his position in the martial arts community.

The alleged headquarters of "Ban BSMA," circa 2020

As I reported in my last entry Dorian sends me links from the safety and confines of a fake profile named Melody Holland. He has me blocked from his main profile bearing his name so this is merely an exercise in futility. Instead he has taken to leaving comments on this blog with links to these poorly edited straight-to-Facebook releases where he claims he has been assisted by all manner of people to tell his many truths including a former employee at Dreamworks. Yeah, you can't really tell it when you watch those videos anyone of any prestige had anything at all to do with them.

This sort of behavior is not surprising. Desperate people will seek even more insane measures allowing hatred to seep into their beings and showing this by saying or doing things that will often times bite them in their collective asses later down the road. As a matter of fact a great example of this unfolded in the Netflix drama "The Tiger King" earlier this year.

Carol Baskin and Joe Exotic pictured here in case you have lived under a rock and know nothing about the unique story of a Libertarian, gun-toting homosexual redneck and his feud with the queen of tigers herself.

Considered one of the best docuseries the streaming service ever produced it tells the tale of Joe Exotic and his famed big cat zoo and his one-man crusade against a woman named Carol Baskin. In the end his antics led him down a path to try to hire a hit man to come against Baskin which in turn enabled federal prosecutors to arrest him. He was later convicted and sentenced to 22 years in prison, lost his zoo and tigers, all of his friends turned from him and he was left with nothing but time ahead of him. What caused all of this to happen? A personal vendetta over what many would consider petty, literally.  At one point Joe began to circulate the story that Baskin's former husband was murdered by her and fed to tigers they both owned. He made several hundred videos and social media posts implying this and in the end he documented his hatred of her so well that it was a slam-dunk for prosecutors to put him away. My personal opinion of the show is that none of them were good people and few cared anything for the animals. But it seems at the time of this article Baskin has not been proven to have killed her husband, but it was proven Joe attempted to have her murdered.

Funny enough this kind of behavior is not uncommon amongst those who seek to defraud, lie or scheme. I have covered the mindset of these types of people in an article from our previous series. In one specific article I spoke about the life these types of people live and how it is often built on carefully constructed lies. When you start to uncover the truth about them though it seems that the life is indeed to a point that they can no longer separate what reality is versus the tales they've told anymore. The entire affair is like a game of Jenga. Remove the correct piece, all of it tumbles down.

Sound familiar? Dux would also write an article detailing his alleged teacher's location in 2017, however so now I suppose we can all rest assured Tanaka lived and died in California. Also, that belt....

Throughout the entire charade with Richardson he has claimed numerous times that many members of the Facebook group "Bullshit Martial Arts" have stalked, bullied and coerced their alleged victims. The group is dedicated to weeding out the fakes and the frauds in the martial arts community through a collaborative effort to find proof of their claims. If proof is not provided or declined it is often assumed that the person in question is not legitimate. Fraudulent actions on the parts of these people can lead to misinformation, loss of income and many times abuse. Richardson has attempted to make light of many of the subjects members of the group have written about in a vain attempt to seem as a savior...the one lone voice in the shadows who seeks to show what he states is the injustice and hypocrisy of the group. He says over and over again that he is showing his honor by waging what he feels is a just war against those who spend countless hours with the victims of these charlatans. A person like Richardson makes light of the suffering encountered by them for his own ends.

One particular individual who Richardson has defended is currently an inmate in the federal system by the name of Ron Collins. Where do we even begin with this guy? I touched on him in the last article but to even begin to tell his story would take an entire series all on its own. However some of the similarities of Richardson's current behavior were also present in Ron's behaviors as well.

Collins sighs as he is mentioned in yet another article detailing his amazing and comic-book inspired life. For more information detailing his exploits click here.

Ron Collins - Super Soldier, Ninja Spy, Undisputed Badass

Ron is a sight better at video-editing and production than Richardson, I will give him that.

Collins claimed to have been a master of some random form of Koga Ryu much as many people in years past attempted to do. This would include the late Mr. Ronald Duncan. Duncan was and remains a well-known forefather to martial arts in the New York City area. However he began making claims of a Ninja lineage of his own years ago prior to his death. He gave himself the title of "Father of American Ninjutsu," a title actually held by Stephen K. Hayes. Hayes founded the system of Toshindo and opened the successful Quest Centers which he operates today. Sadly to this day there has been no verification of Mr. Duncan's lineage, but a good and thoughtful discussion about him and his training is here. (Out of respect for Mr. Duncan's passing, I will not be further discussing him or his system in this series regarding Richardson. He has been discussed over and over in many other places and I do not feel the need to retread the same facts again as he was beloved by many regardless of his claims.)

Mr. Ronald Duncan who alleged for years to have been trained in Ninjutsu.

As for how he came to the forefront of the discussion, Collins' own personal issues with BSMA admin Don Roley and others in the group such as writer Phil Elmore goes back to the early 2000's at least. He was a frequent nuisance on many message boards such as Martial Arts Planet and even popped up on E-Budo a few times it has been said. He has published books on the topic of his alleged training in what appears another failed attempt to show he was a real ninja. One of the more entertaining (using that word lightly) that he wrote was Never Back Down: The True Story of Shihan Ron Collins. Seems you can read this masterpiece of masturbatory fantasies online these days because, well, who the hell cares about his life story when it is about as truthful as anything written by Ashida Kim? He was discussed in detail on E-Budo back in 2001 here, should any care to revisit old forums.

Collins is a mentally-ill man who sought to prove his lethality in the most comical of ways. He acts like a supervillain from the D-list who never caught a fan base that cared but would watch with rapt attention as he attempted to take on the high-level superheroes who eventually would get tired of him and toss him down an elevator shaft. He would show up in towns near his enemies, film a video claiming they were supposed to show up but never would and claim victory. These did nothing if not make for good laughs amongst everyone who watched them. He reminds me of the character Wimp Lo from the film Kung Pow: Enter the Fist. If he was truly taught by someone, they purposefully did it wrong and most assuredly as a joke.

Collins prepares to claim yet another YouTube victory.

Described at a terrifying 5'4 and as wide as he was tall, Collins made trips across multiple States attempting to find a way to show everyone he was the real deal. He made numerous videos where he called out his detractors and altered the truth of the encounters, only to claim numerous victories from the comfort of his home surrounded by the wrappers of long-eaten hamburgers.

His tirades became so bad that he eventually attempted to seek out and fight various members of BSMA from Facebook. He targeted members of said group as mentioned in the previous article, and finally attempted to stage a fight to prove his legitimacy against a fighter named Icy Mike, and finally managed to obtain a firearm and show the world he was truly a force to be reckoned with. From doxing them, defaming them, putting personal information out online for anyone and everyone to see, nothing seemed out of the reach of the robust madman of the mountains hailing from West Virginia. But it was not to last. His reign of internet trolling terror was coming to a fast and speedy end thanks to the people he harassed for so long.

Things have a way of catching up to people who do bad deeds. And when you have a fan club that isn't a fan club at all but are just people tired of your proverbial shit you find yourself on the receiving end of some much needed justice.

Obtaining a firearm Collins was now determined to find a way to make his enemies pay. From the safety of message boards and his vlogs and articles he was making sure everyone who ever crossed him would indeed feel his greasy form of vengeance that only a cheap action flick could deliver. Using the gun he took several pictures with it and began to live out this fantasy he had concocted in his mind. You see, years earlier in prison he was quoted as having said to another inmate that if he killed anyone who he had beef with it would be considered "pre-meditated self-defense." Apparently he never learned to read correctly because what he really meant was "pre-meditated murder." And that was on his mind from the get-go.

So totally terrifying.

Just like Joe Exotic before him Collins' own videos and statements would be entered into evidence against him with the intended results. And yes, many members of the martial arts community inside BSMA as well as outside of it that Ron had pissed off came together to help produce the case against him.

And so it was in 2019 Ron was tried and convicted for lying on an application for a firearm. In the trial proceedings he even showed his skills yet again when he attacked his lawyer thereby showing everyone in court how powerful his skills were and in fear for the safety of everyone involved the judge gave him a five year sentence.

This is the man Richardson claims BSMA doxed and humiliated into jail.

Oh, and did I mention Collins also stalked an underage kid and her family for a long time?  Terrorizing them, he has always denied this but it is well documented in his rants.

Yes, this is the man Richardson and his cronies defend. The same who threatened and even appeared in person to "challenge" any who claimed he was a fraud. The one who literally tucked his tail and ran from multiple encounters and only took on Icy Mike because he was supposed to be smaller than him and Collins assumed it would be an easy victory. Oh, and again, he stalked an underage girl. Just making sure you know who we're dealing with here.

He was also quoted as having said this at one point.

When Frauds Cry Wolf

Frauds as it has been seen time and again when they are against the ropes seek to push away any criticism onto the ones who call them for their lies. This is apparent in almost any case I have personally viewed or researched. It's almost a system of it's own now. Here is the step-by-step process by which they operate:

1) Deflect any critical analysis of their life and claims

2) Claim they have "haters" (haters being a buzzword of sorts)

3) Dox and Defame said haters

Funny enough this happens almost without fail every single time. Richardson himself is following this to the letter. He has amassed a small and seemingly loyal following over at his Legion of Doom headquarters (Ban BSMA) and from there as I have said tosses out videos with an abundance that only PornHub can.

The slandering of critics is merely an attempt to move away from the truth of the matter and maintain a relevance in their mind of who they are and the claims they make. Remember, the lives they lead are built on LIES. Removing a part of the equation results in an instability in the entire enterprise.

In preparing for this article a story had come about sometime ago that includes a most marvelous and, dare I say it, comparable character to our loveable magician in terms of these antics. The methods, the videos, the very nature of this person struck me as a quite comparable in many respects with their personality. Both failed entertainers. Both failed martial artists. And both prepared to maintain their lies no matter the cost. But to tell this story I will need you to follow me into an arena that includes not just martial arts but the music industry as well. Specifically we will venture forth into country music. Yes, Nashville, the Grand Ole Opry, rodeos, cowboys and ranch life harkening back to a time gone by when Doc Holladay still asked people if they wanted to be his huckleberry. Who is this person who is as accomplished as Dorian, you ask? I'm talking about none other than singer, Karate expert, biker and true American...

...Mark Connors.

'Murica.

A Karate Man of the Nashville Scene

You say you've never heard of Mark Connors? Shame on you. With such shits, er, I mean hits as "Stuck on You" and "Our Love Song" this man was clearly set for fame and fortune. He was touring the nation in his totally-country-music-star-RV-thingie, women loved him and flocked to him, he was helping veterans and veteran's families, and he was a real-life cowboy to boot! Hailing from California and Nevada, the wild west lived hard and strong in the heart of this man and he had a yearning to bring that feeling to his many wonderful fans.

Did I mention he was also a Karate instructor as well? Is there nothing that Mark Connors, THE MARK CONNORS can't do?

An experienced ranch hand working at a place called A Cowboy Town in Nashville. He recorded an actual album of his songs with a place called The Sound Kitchen in the same city. He maintained a strong presence in the biker community and it was even hinted that MARK CONNORS was fully invested in military to some degree either by membership or by teaching defensive tactics to them from his extensive martial background.

Yes, this was a man's man. We should all strive to be just as manly as MARK CONNORS demonstrates.

If this gets anymore 'Murica I am gonna faint.

There is one major issue here however with regards to Mr. Connors. And it is a dark one.

Mark Connors isn't real.

Mark Connors is not a celebrity.

Mark Connors is a fake name.

What happened to 'Murica?

Mark Connors was born Mark Cruz. And Mark Cruz is a convicted pedophile living in Portland, Tennessee these days doxing anyone who dares speak against him in wild videos that I have to admit put Richardson to shame. Of course he has a live-in girlfriend helping him financially every step of the way to accomplish this goal.

The worst part of this entire deal is that as a convicted pedophile he was not required per the plea deal he took to have to register in the State of Tennessee as a sex offender. And this in turn allowed him to defraud a property owner into letting him rent a space and open a Karate school. A school he used to teach his impressive skill set gained from a half-dozen classes taken in the great city of Memphis, Tennessee.

But in case you wonder if I'm joking, click this link to see the entire official court affidavit against Mr. Cruz. Click this link to see the conviction and record of it all. You will be shocked and personally I'm scratching my head how he got such a sweetheart of a deal after victimizing a young fifteen year old teenage girl at his place of employment. By the way, the place he did this at? It was purchased by Kid Rock some years ago and no longer operates.

Now I know you're wondering WHY I included this man in this article in regards to Richardson. My intention is to prove these actions by him are not in anyway original, they are actually part of the standard. Whether we speak of Frank Dux or Bryce Dallas, Ron Collins or Dan Harmon, each of these people share many things in common and one major one is how they seek to destroy critics through a combination of constant deflection and a barrage of falsified claims against their critics with the hopes of hurting them personally, financially and emotionally.

Remember my last many articles on Dorian at the start of the year? He has made incredulous accusations against Don Roley claiming him to basically be a poor man's John Wick running rampant across the globe murdering all of his associates whom he stands up for. He claims cyberstalking, bullying, and even has accused me of harassing the family of Bryce Dallas. For the record, I have only spoken to a few of his relatives a few times. I spoke to his brother and sister-in-law the day he passed, I spoke to his older brother Terrence shortly before he passed a few years prior to Bryce, and he has a nephew who has messaged me a few times. Aside from that I have never reached out to his family aside from one Facebook message to his brother Philip about a year ago to see if he wanted to add to our project. We received no response. As for Dorian he would love to undermine the work we did as well as anyone else in the hopes it could make him appear to be the noble, honorable and virtuous knight he claims to be.

But Cruz is no exception. Just like Dorian he regularly attacks those who exposed him for who he is. He has been accused of stealing money from people, swindling them on deals, and covering his past to open a Karate school (this was covered and reported on by WSMV some time ago and is worth a view, CLICK.)

Screenshot from the report, Mr. Cruz denied any comment in the entire affair.

A video by Cruz aka Connors where he reenacts a made-up confrontation with his alleged stalkers

It seems since that expose by the local news he has went into hiding at his girlfriend's home and for a while was running a YouTube channel dedicated to clearing his reputation. He denies to this day all the charges against him and states it was all a misunderstanding. Former students have stated that he told them he was pressured into a deal, but if he was a sex offender wouldn't he be on a list somewhere? Conveniently he hides the plea deal he was given.

Many of his videos from previous channels are still up and can be viewed simply by searching his pseudonym. But know now that this is not his real name nor is he to be trusted. His perverse actions and word-twisting are no different than anyone else out there who seeks to continue their scandalous methods to swindle, victimize and prey on unsuspecting people. His continued actions show a predatory sense that means he will stop at nothing to protect the empire he thinks he has at all costs. As long as HE is not affected, that's all that matters. The lie has to continue because it is now his reality.

Don't even start, George.

The Cost of Defamation

In regards of how each of these men to include Richardson, Collins and Cruz operated in the varying degrees that they did it can cause confusion to those seeking to know the truth from the illusion. Honest practitioners of the martial arts will be pushed down by people like this and potential students will go on to train in an absolute falsehood. From the day Dorian put himself into the spotlight with us he has attempted multiple times to defame anyone he feels is a threat to his position amongst his followers, Frank Dux among them. In trying to end the professional reputations of people he has caused what I'm sure in his mind are horrible issues for those he targeted.

And so it was for months I began to wonder to myself...has anyone verified any of these claims? Despite being disproven about the death of Dallas at the hands of Roley, I mean in regards to other areas of his life. From his Bujinkan training to being a part of Dux Ryu, to being a magician. He sure does toss around pictures of himself at the Ninja Museum a lot but anyone can go to Japan and pay the place a visit. Also, anyone can visit the Bujinkan hombu. I believe it's fair to say in years past many people went to Japan ONCE and used pictures of themselves with the top members to include Soke Hatsumi and set themselves up as practitioners of the art with no real verification. How many instructors out there have done that across multiple styles? BJJ, Karate or Krav Maga even?

And this brings me to a major point in our position with him. You see Dorian fancies himself a great magician. And yes, he has been on some reality shows, he has been featured on America's Got Talent and, yes, to a layman it would look impressive. Yet he claims one particular thing that seems to be a hinging point to his life.

He claims to be an entertainer at the Magic Castle. Not as in "past entertainer," but seemingly as "currently working there."

You see on almost ALL of his major social media accounts he puts that he is, indeed, an entertainer at this place. Well, I wanted to know if he does work there or not. And if so, good on him! I'd be proud to see someone achieve that level of success.

All it takes is a handy-dandy email to the place.

So, on June 9th, 2020 I sent an email to The Magic Castle Member Services asking the following:

to memberservices

Greetings,

My name is Gerald Greysmith. I am an independent writer of true crime who specializes in fraudulent activities and claims. I am currently researching a gentleman named David Richardson who goes by "Dorian the Magician" and states on many of his social media pages he is employed with your establishment. I am enclosing some photos to verify my questions. I am also posting a link to his webpage to help assist in identifying him as well.

If you could contact me at your convenience I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your time and consideration and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

Gerald Greysmith, BSW, AS

I also included the above posted picture from his social media. I wanted to see if he was telling the truth or not about this illustrious career we never stop hearing about. And I also wanted to know the degree to which he was affiliated with them. From all telling it is a very upscale and formal, yet private club. And if he really is an entertainer there why are we not seeing more videos of it out there from him? This would seem an almost certain way to build an impressive resume.

And that's when I got this:

Mr. Greysmith,

After looking through our membership database, I have been able to confirm that Mr. Richardson was a member of the Academy of Magical Arts but expired late in 1998. I cannot confirm how long he was a member as records prior to 2000 are a bit unfinished.

I was able to confirm that Mr. Richardson did perform at the Castle once, back in 1998.

I hope this suffices.

(Name and information redacted at the request of respondent.)

So, as it turns out David is perhaps slightly embellishing the truth about being an entertainer there. While he did perform at The Magic Castle ONCE, he has not been an entertainer there for quite some time indeed. And as it seems he has been doxing people as phonies all along while living and grasping to a one-time performance at a club that he has not even had an act at since 1998. This is the same year his membership to the same Academy of Magical Arts expired. Now, I welcome him to provide evidence to the contrary. That means he will have to unblock me from Facebook and actually start a real conversation with me.

Or call our hotline at 901-378-7022. And David? This time don't call the phone screaming and yelling at any of us. It will be met with a hang up and I will NOT answer Facebook calls from you.

This is the man who called someone a murderer on multiple occasions, defended the worst of the entire group of frauds out there in the martial arts community, been hiding the fact he is basically nothing more than an entertainer for parties and doesn't have any kind of affiliation to The Magic Castle as he described it to be, and has slandered anyone he could in order to make himself look good. This is the man who spoke of martial arts honor yet displays none of it all in an effort to satisfy his vanity.

It makes me just wonder what else could he be stretching the truth about? His training, his philosophy, his reasons for doing all of this? His obsession for the enemy in his mind is almost beyond bitter. It has now transpired to downright lunacy and one can only imagine where it may take him yet. With releasing this information about his life I wonder myself now what else he will begin to claim? He already is frequenting Bullshido and posting about his upcoming fight with Roley.

The madness will continue, of that I'm sure. Whether or not his story changes to another version remains to be seen.

(Disclaimer ---- I want to be clear I am NOT comparing David Richardson to Mark Cruz in terms of the conviction of statutory rape on the part of Mr. Cruz. No evidence has ever surfaced to my knowledge of actions like that on the part of Mr. Richardson. Additionally there is an allegation put out by Dux Ryu some time ago that Mr. Richardson took advantage of young women but, I look at the source of that and no evidence has ever surfaced towards that allegation, either. In a phone conversation around a month or so prior to this article with Mr. Richardson he explained the situation from his side in a satisfactory manner at this time. I want to be clear in that the comparison here is that Richardson and Cruz use similar methods in attempting to silence their opposition in regards to martial arts claims.)
